Founded in 1993, AMIkids Tallahassee is a private non-profit, staff-secure day treatment facility in Tallahassee, Florida. Our program operates during regular school hours, serving both boys and girls who have committed a variety of non-violent offenses and are involved with the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice. Our staff works together with our kids and their families to address issues both in the home and in the student's neighborhood and help our kids to work through their issues and gain the needed skills to return to their families and communities.
The AMIkids Day Treatment program has proven to be so effective, that it has been recognized by both the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) and the U.S. Department of Justice as an evidence-based model that makes a difference in the lives of children and communities. In fact, the OJJDP designation officially made AMIkids the only rated Day Treatment program in the nation working with at-risk youth according to the Department of Justice criteria.
AMIkids Tallahassee's Family Services program provides home-based family counseling and intervention through AMIkids counselors that make regular visits to the home to work with the youth and their family to address issues that may be causing delinquent behavior. The programs are implemented as designed by Functional Family Therapy (FFT LLC, Inc.), which is a short-term, high quality intervention program using a strength-based model to assess risks and protective factors that impact the child and their environment.
AMIkids Tallahassee uses the evidence-based, research-driven AMIkids Personal Growth Model © in offering dynamic programs and comprehensive services to treat each kid's unique issues, primarily focusing on education, behavior modification, and treatment.
Since 1993, AMIkids Tallahassee has helped over 2,500 kids transform their lives and despite our kids averaging over four arrests prior to enrolling in AMIkids Tallahassee, 63% of our kids do not re-offend within the first year of completing our day treatment program.
