AMIkids Sandoval

Helping boys discover their potential since 2011.

Our Story

Our Program

Founded in 2011, AMIkids Sandoval is a private nonprofit, staff-secure residential facility in Cuba, New Mexico, roughly 90 minutes Northwest of Albuquerque. Our program operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with our kids living in dormitories on campus in a remote location ideally structured to help them work through their issues and gain the needed skills to return to their families and communities.

AMIkids Sandoval uses the evidence-based, research-driven AMIkids Personal Growth Model © in offering dynamic programs and comprehensive services to treat each kid's unique issues, primarily focusing on education, behavior modification, and treatment.

Since 2011, AMIkids Sandoval has helped over 100 kids transform their lives and across all of our AMIkids programs nationally, 74% of our kids do not re-offend within the first year of completing our programs.

Prison Rape Elimination Act

The Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) is a federal law that is focused specifically on addressing sexual violence in juvenile facilities, jails, prison, lockups and other facilities. PREA sets a standard that protects the Eighth Amendment right (constitutional right prohibiting cruel or unusual punishment) of federal, state and local youth offenders. AMIkids Sandavol has a zero tolerance policy toward all forms of sexual abuse and sexual harassment. The goal of the law and the agency’s Zero tolerance policy is to prevent, detect and respond to such conduct. All youth have the right to protection and to be free from sexual abuse and sexual harassment. A youth may report sexual abuse or sexual harassment to administration, program staff mental health professionals, probation officers or any person the youth trusts to make a report of abuse. All reports shall be referred for investigation according to PREA standards. There will be no retaliation for reporting any legitimate incidents of sexual abuse or sexual harassment. If you suspect sexual abuse or sexual harassment at AMIkids Sandavol, you may call the Executive Director at (575) 346-0075 or you may contact the Sandavol County Sheriff's Department at (505) 867-7526.

A review and audit of PREA standards at AMIkids Sandavol will be taking place August 8-12, 2016. For more information, contact:
