Lennar Foundation Expands Pre-Apprenticeship Program with AMIkids, Inc. to Four Florida Markets

TAMPA, Fla. - AMIkids Inc., a nationally-recognized, nonprofit organization that transforms troubled youth into responsible members of our communities, is proud to expand its Pre-Apprenticeship Program with support from the Lennar Foundation.

Now operating in Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville and Fort Myers, the AMIkids Pre-Apprenticeship Program provides youth 16-to-24 years old free access to nationally-accredited training in construction. The program also provides free job readiness, mentoring, academic support, along with participant stipends upon completion of the program and assistance with job placement in with employers in the construction field.

“The Lennar Foundation, the philanthropic arm of national homebuilder Lennar Corporation, is pleased to be expanding our Residential Construction Job Skills Training program with AMIkids into additional Florida communities. It is very rewarding to assist economically and socially challenged men and women by teaching them skills which can give them careers in the robust construction industry”, said Marshall Ames, Chairman of the Lennar Foundation.

During the 12-month program, AMIkids Inc. will partner with community-based agencies like Career Source, Metropolitan Ministries, Covenant House, Building Talent Foundation, and local employers to support recruitment efforts and job placements for 450 youth across these four locations.
